DESCRIPTION :

About a century ago, two brothers decided to open a charitable school in the name of their father Dhanpatmal Virmani in Lyallpur (now in Pakistan). After partition, strenuous efforts were made to reopen the school in Delhi with the assistance of the Government. Dhanpatmal Virmani Education Trust and Management Society (Known as Virmani Education Trust) presently have four initiatives, namely, Dhanpatmal Virmani Senior Secondary School, Virmani Public School, Women Literacy & Empowerment Program and R.N. Virmani Scholarships. Virmani Trust organized Centenary Celebrations in November 2017 to rededicate its commitment to empowering socially and economically deprived communities.

Today, the elders of that generation have all gone but the joint commitment to the school, its charitable activities and the work of the Trust continues to keep the different branches of the extended family together. The celebration of the Centenary of the pact of the two brothers to honor their father and keep their legacy intact for coming generations; is a testimonial to that commitment. It is seen in the expansive efforts in the school and through its dynamic Women Literacy Programme. The work of the Trust has been selflessly and jointly handled at various times by succession of Virmanis from Jwala Das, Diwan Chand, Ram Narain, Hans Raj, Satya Pal, Vineet, and Anl Virmani along with the trustees and Management Committee Asha Kishore, Vinod Kapur, Madhu Sabikhi, Anjana Batra, Alpana Vasudeva, Amitav Virmani and many others including Principal Ram Lal Sapra who was instrumental in setting up the school in Delhi and old Principals Mrs. C.K.Sharma and Mr. N.S.Sethi. The trust has remained true to its charitable core and efforts to use wealth to give back to society- the key instinct that brought two brothers to start a school one hundred years ago.
