My Own School, Shyam Nagar

DESCRIPTION :

The idea to open up a school was conceived in the year 1988 by the secretary of My Own School Education Society Mrs. T. Singh. Consequently the school was started on the 4th of July, 1988 to provide high quality education to children, ensuring their all round development. To inculcate a sense of belonging in its pupils, the school was named "My Own School".

As it is rightly said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a small step, My Own School had a modest beginning with 5 children and a teacher. Since the school was started as a pre-primary school, the aim of the school then was to prepare the children, in the age group of 2 to 5 years, for senior secondary schools. Owing to the comprehensive training (based on early childhood education programme) that the children received at the school, virtually all the children would make it to the prestigious sr. secondary schools.

The school was upgraded to primary level in 1992. And in the year 2000, the school management decided to upgrade it to senior secondary level by adding a class every year. Thenceforth a class was added every year. Now the school is a fully fledged Senior Secondary Co-educational English Medium School with all the streams at sr secondary level: Science-Math, Science-Biology, Commerce-Maths/IP/PE and Arts. The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi. It follows NCERT curriculum and lays great emphasis on spoken and written English.

 
Over the years the school has gone from strength to strength consolidating its position in the society. School CBSE Class X & XII board exam results have always been remarkable. CBSE has awarded many students of the school with the Certificates of Merit for their outstanding performance in Board Exams.

Currently the school has more than 2300 pupils on its rolls.
