DAV Public School Balasore as the sibling of DAV chain of schools takes its birth in mid nineties with the initiative of a few local well-wishers with a beginning of twenty four students and four teachers with hope to meet the local needs assuring quality education upholding scientific knowledge tempered with latest techniques with a sound background of western culture epitomizing Anglo without compromising oriental culture, ageless tradition and values representing Vedic code of scriptures. DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi patronized it wef 1999. However overcoming the teething problems, the school affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi as a secondary school in 2007 and later in 2010, it upgraded to a Sr Secondary School to open XI & XII Science and Commerce stream .Till the year 2014, the school has offered eight batches at the secondary level and three batches in the senior secondary level.
