Kendriya Vidyalaya Payyanur ,Kerala established in October 1988 is now situated in Edat, a  centre of prime educational institution in payyanur.edat is 5 Km away from Payyanur Bus station and 8 Km from Payyanur Railway station.This is a  civil sector school with the Asst. Collector as VMC Chairman. A three section school with an  enrolment of 1913 . The Vidyalaya aims to prepare the children to meet the challenges of the futuristic society.
It  is  housed  in  an  attractive  building  in  its  own  campus  at  Edat  which  is  4Km  away  from  Payyanur  the  cultural  centre  of  North  Malabar. Moreover the Vidyalaya offers its students  a  peaceful  congenial   environment  for  learning,  away  from  the  hustle  and  bustle  of  city  life. It  has  classes  from  I  to  XII  with  three  sections  each  up  to  class  IX .The  present  students  strength  is  1558. In  the  senior  secondary  section    it  offers  English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Computer Science and  Maths / Hindi  in  the  Science  stream. The  alumni  of  the  Vidyalaya  have  excelled  in  different  walks  of  life  over  the  years.
