The Founder, Mr. Victor Kerketta, B.A., B.Ph., son of late Mr. Ignace Kerketta and Mrs. Secunda Lakra, born in vill. Sirghaghtoli, P.O.- Kersai, Parish-Tainser, P.S.-Kersai, Dist-Simdega (Jharkhand), educated in Boys Middle School, Tainser; Apostolic School, Samtoli; St. Xavier?s College, Ranchi; St. Stanislaus College, Sitagarha, Hazaribagh; DeNobili College, Pune; Tarunoday ? Boria, Ranchi; taught in St. Ignatius? High School, Gumla and St. Mary?s High School, Samtoli, the incharge of ?Atmanirbhar?, made the survey of whole Simdega district and found the ample opportunities of seeing and experiencing the living and life condition of people. As a social worker he could have taken other initiatives but being a philosopher and educationist he felt the urgent need of good education for the local people. He knew the value of language. The linguist would think that one would learn as many languages as one could. He was inspired to do something to dispel the darkness of illiteracy and social evil. In him rose an impulse to open an English medium school, in a suburb of Simdega for all round development of students.

After making a necessary arrangement in a rented house, he fixed the date and time & invited the eminent persons of Simdega for the inaugural ceremony. Thus, St. John?s School, English Medium was inaugurated & declared open by Rev. Fr. Patric Tete, SJ, Rector of St. Mary?s High School, Samtoli on July 15th 1991. Fr. Tobias Kerketta, the dean of samtoli vicariate, blessed the school and prayed for God?s assistance. The founder thought the need of a registered society to run the school and took the initiative to form St. John?s Educational Society, which was registered under society registration Act21, 1860 on May 7th, 1999 in Patna. The Society purchased 2 acres and 5 dismal of land at Pharsabera, P.O.-Khuntitoli, Distt. Simdega from Abdul Rajak in 2004. It constructed a building of two rooms first and added another three rooms in the year 2005-2006. The society was re-registered in the office of the Inspector General of Registration, Jharkhand on 25th May 2006 (2006-2007). It purchased land of 0.62 acres again from Abdul Rajak on 23rd July 2008. The human resource department Ranchi provided NOC to St. John?s School, English Medium, Pharsabera on December 1, 2008. The Society applied for loan to the Manager BOI, Simdega in December 2008. The Dy and Zonal Manager BOI, Ranchi Zone approved the loan and started disbursing the amount in the month of January 2009. The building construction work was completed in the month of February 2010.
