K.V. Chitrakoot came into existence in 2011 by the virtue of initiatives taken by the authorities of UP state government to meet the educational needs of the children of Chitrakoot. Presently, it is running in a temporary building.The overwhelming response from the people of the area prompted the opening of VIII class in 2014-15. KV, Chitrakoot is running with mission of KVS.

To initiate and promote experimentation and innovations in education in collaboration with other bodies like the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Concil of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) etc. and to develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of Indianness among children.
