Kendriya Vidyalaya Palampur was established in defence sector in the year 1977 and is situated in the lap of Dhauladhar mountain range of the Himalaya, on Pathankot - Manali road NH - 20 in the district of Kangra (HP). Vidyalaya stands with its own building and provides education from Class I - XII in three streams, viz Science, Commerce and Humaities. This Vidyalaya has been developed as a model smart Kendriya Vidyalaya to achieve the target of quality education and all round excellence.
In order to provide uninterrupted, uniform and qualitative facilities to the wards of Central Government Employees including defence personnel and floating population liable to frequent transfer, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, came to existance in 1963
